Making ergonomic assessment fast enough to actually happen

Musculoskeletal disorders — sprains, strains, back injuries and repetitive strain conditions — are among the most common work-related health problems. The methods to spot risky jobs have existed for decades: REBA, RULA and the NIOSH lifting equation are taught on every ergonomics course.

The problem is time. Scoring one posture by hand means freezing a video, estimating angles by eye and working through lookup tables. So most workplaces assess a few jobs a year, and the rest go unchecked.

What ViveLab does

ViveLab uses computer vision to do the measuring. You record a task on a phone, and an open pose-estimation model running in your browser estimates the worker's joint angles. ViveLab then applies the published scoring rules and shows you every step of the result, so you can check it, adjust it and explain it.

Alongside the analyzer we publish free calculators and guides, because good ergonomics shouldn't depend on a software budget.

What we believe

• Explainable over magical. We use established methods and show every angle and table lookup, not an opaque “risk index”.
• Private by default. Footage of workers is processed on the device and never uploaded.
• Honest about limits. AI is a fast first pass. A competent person should review results before they're used in a formal assessment.
• Sourced, practical content. Our guides cite primary sources such as OSHA, NIOSH, CCOHS, HSE and the original method papers.
